Birth Philosophy~
- Women's bodies are designed to give birth. This knowledge already exists inside every woman.
- A woman will labor the best where ever she feels the safest and most secure. For some that may be a hospital. For others it may mean at home or in an alternative birthing center.
- The nutrition of a pregnant woman has a great impact on the health of her baby from its life as a fetus through adulthood.
- Birthing a baby requires integration of the mind, body, and spirit.
- Breast milk provides optimum nutrition for the newborn baby.
- Birth is one of the greatest challenges life has to offer.
- While a cesarean section may be necessary at times, the current rate is too high.
- In most cases vaginal birth after cesarean is a safer alternative to routine repeat cesareans.
- Birth is a process, not a method.
- My BirthRite seeks to facilitate a woman's or a couple's personal process in childbearing, and not to impart a preconceived method of labor and birth. Each birth is unique.
- A woman in labor deserves an environment in which her privacy, autonomy and emotional security is protected, and her mobility is encouraged.
- Expectant parents should participate in decisions regarding the judicious use of obstetrical medications and procedures.
- A woman's beliefs influence her birth. Exploring beliefs heightens self-awareness.
- The emotions of a birthing woman have profound effects on the birth outcome. Women must be allowed to express all their birth related feelings.
Q & A
What Sets My Childbirth Ed From Other Childbirth Classes?
A very unique aspect of my class is that of pelvic positioning, you’ll learn how your pelvis can either help or hinder the birth process. We practice positions at the beginning of every class that help baby quickly and safely get through your birth canal and into your arms. I am very passionate about childbirth and my own experience of birthing a 10lb, 23inch baby helps me closely relate to expecting parents.
What is the difference between the hospital provided childbirth classes and my childbirth classes?
While the childbirth classes held inside of a hospital will provide you with tools to help with pain management and show you the physiology behind birth, they are also designed to make your birth process most convenient for the hospital. My classes are designed to empower mom and baby and help create a peak experience that you’ll hold onto forever. We dig into the deeper feelings and fears you and your partner have about birth, we then face them, and provide strengthening birth affirmations to help your mind wrap around the birth process. Birth is a mind, body and soul-filled event, every aspect is covered.
What will I walk away from after taking this 6-class series?
You were born with all the eggs and knowledge that you will ever need to give birth! After taking my class, you can expect to leave with an understanding that, what you came to me for, your body already knew! We were just taking the time to align your mind with your body knowledge giving you the confidence to trust birth! You’ll also learn about nutrition, benefits of breastfeeding and the risks and benefits of pain relief.
What will my partner gain from this class series?
When we are in labor, we are completely exposed. Birth is a very intimate time for the family and the support we have when we are birthing is key. My classes are designed to help all 3 members involved! Working together, significant others will define their purpose and will be given the tools to be the best support they can possibly be during the birth of their child!
